I asked my client, this giant in manufacturing, what was the most important 'soft skill' that their next Help desk Analyst  would have.  The answer?  A clever candidate with the ability to challenge the system, make improvements and maintain the balance within this team of 7.  If your ultimate goal is to get into the Networking space that is where this career path could go. 

 

Job description:

Your role will include IT Infrastructure support and Customer/Vendor relationship management.  You can expect an average day to include some of the following:

  • Day to day help desk support via email, phone, on-site and remote
  • Call logging and escalation
  • End user IT equipment set-up and roll-out
  • Hardware/Software and services purchasing
  • Daily/weekly back ups
  • MS Windows and general office hardware troubleshooting
  • Writing and updating process documentation
  • Manage third party support partners

The winning candidate:

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • A minimum of 3 years help desk experience
  • University degree
  • MCP/MCSE certificate
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in writing process and procedure documentation
  • Ability to plan and prioritise
  • Positive attitude
  • SAP first level support experience (this is not essential and is a great opportunity for SAP exposure.
