Communication
Confirm the most effective means of communication and be prepared to respond promptly. This includes:

• Convenient times to call (let us know if you can’t take calls during work hours)
• An email address that you check on a regular basis
• Suitable times for telephone or face-to-face interviews

Expectations Management
Make your expectations and/ or requirements clear from the start and then be consistent.  It damages your credibility if we need to go back and forth with a potential new employer to manage changes on your behalf.  This includes issues such as:

• Salary expectations.  Don’t use the job offer as leverage to increase your salary expectations at the end of the process.
• Availability.  Don’t suddenly announce you have planned a holiday or need a break once the expectation for a start date have been established.  Let us know that up front and we can manage that with the employer for you early in the process.

Your Job Search Status
It is important to be open with your current job search status.  If we know that you are also considering other opportunities, and where in the process those opportunities are, it means we can impress on potential employers the need for timely consideration of your application.  It may also mean that we can negotiate a better salary outcome for you if there is an employer that sees you as an outstanding candidate.
